President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed cement companies to return to their previous pricing for the commodity. This directive was disclosed by the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, after inspecting the BUA cement factory in Sokoto.

During a meeting with cement manufacturers, President Tinubu directed them to revert to the earlier price of cement. Senator Umahi urged the companies to comply with the president’s directive to support the government’s housing programme and the agenda for concrete roads.

Umahi commended BUA Cement for completing its 5th production line. He confirmed that the 5th line, though awaiting commissioning, has already started operation. He also praised the company for maintaining cleanliness on its premises.

Accompanied by the Senate committee chairman on housing, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Senator Umahi stated that the federal government is undertaking a 372-kilometer dual-carriageway road project from Zaria to Sokoto State. He emphasized that the first phase will be done with asphalt, while the second phase will be with pure concrete, aligning with the president’s agenda.

Senator Tambuwal applauded BUA management for its commitment to its responsibilities. He urged the company to not only improve production capacity but also ensure the availability of cement to the masses at affordable prices, in line with the housing for all initiative.

Managing Director of BUA Cement, Engineer Yusuf Binji, assured that the company would ensure massive production with the fifth line, which would help lower the price of cement in the market.
