The federal government is set to capitalize on the thriving global outsourcing market, which has generated nearly $350 billion for seven leading countries, to unlock vast employment opportunities for the nation’s youth.

Vice President Kashim Shettima will launch the Outsource To Nigeria Initiative (OTNI) in Gombe State on Monday. The program, spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President, aims to create jobs in the business process and technology-enabled outsourcing sector.

The OTNI aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda on job creation and is seen as a crucial step towards achieving job security for Nigeria’s youth. The initiative, supported by the Office of the Vice President, targets the substantial job openings in the global outsourcing market, which raked in nearly $350 billion in 2023 for the top seven participating countries.

Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating that the sector offers well-paying jobs and is projected to exceed half a trillion dollars by 2030. Nigeria is well-positioned for success in this sector, boasting English proficiency, improved IT infrastructure, and a youthful and skilled workforce.

The launch of OTNI on March 4 in Gombe, Abuja, and Kaduna is expected to revolutionize Nigeria’s business process and outsourcing sector. The initiative, led by Outsource Global, will aggregate talent through a Worknation platform, provide targeted capacity building, establish centres of excellence, and facilitate international deployment of trained professionals.

Founder and CEO of Outsource Global, Mrs Amal Hassan, highlighted the strategic approach of OTNI, focusing on talent pooling, structured training, and international branding to showcase Nigerian capabilities. The initiative will initially train 1,000 Nigerians in Gombe State, offering them employment opportunities in the outsourcing industry.
