Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has criticized the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging that it set Nigeria back by 50 years. He also expressed disappointment with President Buhari’s leadership, stating that he was not a blessing to the country and should not be praised.

During an interview on Channels TV, Fayose urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu as he works to revive the economy he inherited from his predecessor. He raised concerns about the significant debt accumulated during Buhari’s administration, including loans with long moratorium periods that will burden future generations.

Fayose cautioned Tinubu against praising Buhari, emphasizing that it could mislead Nigerians about the former president’s performance. While acknowledging Tinubu’s leadership within their party, Fayose urged him to be cautious about celebrating Buhari’s tenure, which, in his view, has led Nigeria into a challenging situation.

He urged Tinubu to refrain from making public statements that portray Buhari as a blessing to Nigeria, emphasizing that Buhari’s leadership had not been beneficial to the country. Fayose argued that Buhari’s policies had regressed Nigeria by 50 years, pointing to economic and social challenges faced by Nigerians during his tenure.

Fayose’s comments highlight the political divide in Nigeria and the differing views on Buhari’s legacy. While some see him as a leader who tackled corruption and insecurity, others, like Fayose, criticize his economic policies and overall impact on the country. As Tinubu prepares to lead the country, the challenge of addressing these divergent perspectives and steering Nigeria towards progress remains significant.
