The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, has denied involvement in an alleged incident where residents were reportedly transported from Lagos to Osun State by law enforcement agents. Earlier reports by SaharaReporters detailed how the police, in collaboration with the Lagos State Task Force, rounded up residents and youths from various areas of Lagos and transported them to Osun State.

According to SaharaReporters, one of the youths claimed to have been taken from his workplace by Nigerian policemen on Friday afternoon and narrated his experience, stating that they were gathered at the Makoko police station before being taken to a forest in Ilesha town, Osun State. He mentioned the presence of several luxurious buses filled with youths accompanied by policemen during the operation.

In response to these allegations, the state command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, issued a press statement refuting the claims, asserting that the command was not aware of such an operation. The statement clarified that while the police conduct raids on black spots as part of their crime prevention and detection duties, they only arraign suspects in courts after thorough screening. Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Adegoke Fayoade, assured the public of the command’s commitment to their safety and security.

In summary, the Lagos State Police Command denied involvement in the reported incident of transporting residents to Osun State and emphasized their dedication to crime prevention and the safety of Lagos residents.
