Kano Governor Launches Ramadan Rice Distribution to Less-Privileged, Warns Against Diversion and Vows Decisive Action Against Violators

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has initiated the distribution of 224,440 bags of 25kg rice to the less-privileged across the state to alleviate the burden of feeding during Ramadan.

During the launch of the distribution at Tiamin rice in Kano, the governor warned the distribution committee against diverting the rice, promising severe consequences for anyone found guilty.

The rice will be distributed across the state’s 11,222 polling units in the 484 wards. Governor Yusuf emphasized the need for transparency in the distribution process to ensure that the food items reach the intended recipients.

A total of 112,220 bags of 25kg rice will be distributed to members of the public according to their senatorial zones, starting with Kano South senatorial zone. This initiative aims to benefit 224,440 households, with equal distribution among males and females.

Governor Yusuf issued a stern warning, stating that any individual or group caught diverting the rice meant for vulnerable people would face legal consequences. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that the distribution process is fair and transparent.

Chairman of the State Palliative Distribution Compliance Committee and Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, praised Governor Yusuf for the initiative and assured that the committee would uphold fairness and transparency in the distribution process.
