The internal crisis within the Rivers State chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has escalated, with former National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus accusing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, of spreading half-truths.

Wike had referred to Secondus and former Minister of Transportation Abiye Sekibo as “expired politicians” for supporting State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. In response, Secondus, in a statement by his media aide Ike Abonyi, criticized Wike’s comments, stating that Wike is known for distorting facts and spreading falsehoods.

During a recent media briefing, Wike reportedly exhibited “his well-known trait of being a harbinger of half-truths and a mastermind of outright falsehoods just to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public.” Secondus also accused Wike of being a showman who manipulates facts for political gain.

Last week, Secondus, Sekibo, Senator Lee Maeba, Celestine Omehia, and Austin Opara declared their support for Fubara and called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in Wike’s activities in the state. Secondus criticized Wike’s characterization of these leaders as “transitional politicians, political vampires, and political buccaneers,” calling it unfortunate and aimed at tarnishing their reputation.

Secondus emphasized that Wike’s remarks were a reflection of his own character, highlighting the need for him to be cautious in his statements, especially regarding respected political figures in Rivers State.
