APGA Accuses Opposition of Foul Play in Demanding Soludo’s Resignation

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has defended Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State against calls for his resignation following the recent killing of two policemen in the state. APGA stated that Governor Soludo cannot be held responsible for the tragic incident and, therefore, should not be pressured to step down from his position.

In response to the calls for Governor Soludo’s resignation, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders and some opposition groups have issued a 48-hour ultimatum for him to resign, citing his alleged inability to address the security challenges in Anambra State.

However, the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, cautioned against politicizing security issues, stating that such actions could be linked to those sponsoring insecurity in the region. He expressed strong opposition to the demand for Governor Soludo’s resignation, particularly targeting the leadership of the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, hinting that they might have insider knowledge about the recent security incident in Uga.

Obigwe highlighted the overall peaceful atmosphere in Anambra State during the Christmas celebrations, except for the unfortunate incident in Uga. He commended Governor Soludo for his efforts in maintaining security and praised the Anambra Police Command for their bravery in thwarting what seemed to be a kidnapping attempt in Uga.

The APGA representative emphasized that security issues should not be exploited for political gains, as they are a concern for everyone. He reiterated the party’s support for Governor Soludo and the state’s security forces, crediting them for significantly reducing insecurity in Anambra State.
