A Comedy of Errors in the Israeli-Palestinian Quandary by Solomon Oluwaseun Olukoya

Flags of Israel and Palestine painted on the concrete wall with soldier shadow. Gaza and Israel conflict

In the complex tapestry of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, there’s much more than what meets the eye. Maybe I should start by reminding us that in real-life warfare, there’s no easy right or wrong, just the fragile thread of human lives hanging in the balance.

Now, what baffles me is the audacious incursion of a supposed Palestinian terrorist group into Israeli territory, given that Israel conveniently has one of the most advanced intelligence and military setups globally.

It’s like a math problem that refuses to add up, especially on the 50th anniversary of the Arab-Israeli war. Call it a plot twist, but it gives me so much conviction that there’s more beneath the surface. Anyhoo, that’s a matter to be greeted later.

What’s even more godawful is that those who have the least experience with the harsh realities of war or violence tend to be the most vocal in taking sides. It’s as if they’ve been watching too many action movies and now perceive war as some sort of grand spectacle. Perhaps it’s a primal instinct thing.

So, yes, let’s keep taking sides until the conflict drags other nations into the quagmire, and we all find ourselves displaced, with no shelter or food, clutching firearms for survival. Who knows, maybe that’s what we secretly wanted all along, a lead role in our very own action movie.

Peace, is the word – let’s make it a viral sensation!
