Senator Nwoko’s Proposal to Ban Dollars Sparks Debate Amid Wife’s Dollar Splurges

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has proposed banning the use of dollars in Nigeria to address the economic crisis gripping the nation. The steep rise of the dollar to nearly N2000 has significantly increased the cost of goods and services, prompting the senator to call for drastic measures.

During a recent National Assembly plenary session, Senator Nwoko argued that Nigeria’s heavy reliance on foreign exchange, particularly the dollar, was undermining the naira’s value and hindering its competitiveness in the global market.

“We have to recognize that we have sidelined the naira. Everyone is fixated on dollars, and this fixation is causing problems,” lamented the lawmaker. “It may be a challenging step to take, but we must stop using dollars in Nigeria.”

However, Senator Nwoko’s proposal has raised eyebrows due to his wife Regina Daniels’ preference for Nigerian vendors who charge in dollars for their products. Mrs. Daniels, a popular actress and the senator’s sixth wife, often showcases her purchases made in dollars on her social media platforms.

On her birthday in October 2023, Mrs. Daniels flaunted her luxurious hair, sourced from a renowned Nigerian vendor who prices their products in dollars.

In January 2023, the actress shared a post revealing a $100,000 credit transaction from Senator Nwoko, expressing gratitude for his generosity.

“I’m stunned to discover a $100,000 alert in my account from yesterday afternoon. My husband always surprises me with his incredible gestures. Thank you so much, baby,” she wrote on her Instagram in January last year.

In 2022, Mrs. Daniels received a lavish gift of a dollar money tree from her mother, Rita Daniels, arranged by a luxury surprise vendor.
