President Tinubu Appoints Son-in-law as FHA Managing Director/CEO
President Bola Tinubu has appointed his son-in-law, Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, as the new Managing Director/CEO of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA). Ojo, who was previously a member of the House of Representatives, is married to President Tinubu’s eldest daughter, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo.
The announcement was made by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, who also disclosed other executive appointments within the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Shehu Usman Osidi was appointed as the Managing Director/CEO of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), with three Executive Directors also appointed for FMBN.
For FHA, four Executive Directors were appointed, including Mr. Mathias Terwase Byuan, Mr. Umar Dankane Abdullahi, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, and Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok.
Mr. Shehu Osidi, the new FMBN CEO, brings over 30 years of banking experience, including 13 years in mortgage banking. He is a graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Housing Finance.
On the other hand, Oyetunde Ojo, the new FHA CEO, has over a decade of experience in the housing and hospitality industries. He holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom.
President Tinubu’s approval also includes the establishment of Building Materials Hubs across all six of the nation’s geopolitical zones, the financing and establishment of a National Social Housing Fund for low-income and vulnerable groups, and land reforms to streamline access to land across all states and unlock nearly $300 billion of dead capital in the sector.
The appointments are expected to contribute to the delivery of affordable housing for millions of Nigerians in need and provide job opportunities for Nigeria’s youth population.
