Kannywood actor and comedian, Saeed Muhammed, popularly known as Funky Mallam, has voiced criticism against Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State over the governor’s directive to his police escorts to apprehend a “soldier” for a traffic violation.

Governor Sanwo-Olu had instructed the arrest of motorcyclists riding against traffic on the Lagos-Badagry expressway. When one of the offenders claimed to be a soldier, the governor responded by ordering his arrest, calling him a “useless boy.”

Following this incident, a soldier expressed disapproval of the governor’s action, stating that soldiers have the right to drive against traffic. Another soldier also criticized Sanwo-Olu, asserting that he would have retaliated if he had been the one disrespected.

In response to these events, Funky Mallam took to the comment section of the post to call out the state government for what he perceived as a violation of its laws, particularly regarding the use of sirens.

The Kannywood star suggested that instead of involving the police and publicly shaming the soldier, Governor Sanwo-Olu should have reported the matter to the soldier’s superior for appropriate action.

Funky Mallam pointed out that while the government expects citizens to obey the law, it often disregards laws itself, citing the frequent unauthorized use of sirens by government officials. He also highlighted the prevalence of one-way driving by public transport drivers, seemingly with impunity.

In his critique, Funky Mallam emphasized that the soldiers reacted strongly because the governor publicly disgraced the soldier by involving the police, rather than handling the matter through proper military channels.
