Senator Diket Plang of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Plateau State has emphasized the need for lasting solutions to the security challenges facing the state, stating that temporary measures are insufficient. Speaking to journalists in Jos, Senator Diket stressed that a permanent solution is crucial to saving lives and ending the recurring violence in Plateau State, particularly in its north-central region.

Senator Diket proposed the establishment of military bases at identified flashpoints as a proactive measure to deter bandits and enhance security. He revealed that he had presented a motion in the national assembly advocating for enduring peace in Plateau State, urging a shift from reactive to proactive security strategies.

Instead of relying solely on military intervention during attacks, Senator Diket suggested securing entry points used by criminals in areas like Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, Mangu, Gindiri, and Bauchi. He emphasized that comprehensive security measures should be implemented to prevent criminals from entering and escaping easily.

Senator Diket praised the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) for his accessibility and swift responses to security incidents. He acknowledged the efforts of security personnel but emphasized the need for increased funding and collaboration to tackle criminal activities effectively.

In addition, Senator Diket urged the public to support security agencies by reporting criminal elements, even if they are family members, to ensure lasting peace in the state.
