Southwest Governors Forum Assures Lavish Burial for Late Ondo Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, speaking on behalf of the Southwest Governors Forum, has pledged the commitment of the forum to ensure a dignified burial for the late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away on Wednesday. Governor Abiodun made this announcement in Ibadan after visiting the family of the deceased governor at his Jericho private residence on Friday.

Governor Abiodun disclosed plans to establish a committee responsible for organizing a befitting state burial for Governor Akeredolu. He emphasized that the Southwest Governors Forum is dedicated to honoring the late governor with a respectful and honorable burial, befitting his status as a prominent figure in the region.

“We will accord Akeredolu a burial that will be befitting of a great statesman and one of the leading lights of the southwest region,” stated Governor Abiodun.

Governor Abiodun also expressed the collective responsibility of the Southwest Governors Forum in ensuring that Governor Akeredolu’s funeral rites are carried out fittingly. He announced the formation of a joint committee comprising representatives from the southwestern states to collaborate with the family and the government of Ondo State to organize the funeral.

In his tribute to the late Governor Akeredolu, Governor Abiodun described him as a courageous leader whose contributions would be greatly missed. He highlighted Governor Akeredolu’s role as the Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum and the Southern Governors Forum, praising his leadership and dedication to regional causes.

The visit to the late governor’s residence was attended by governors and representatives from Osun, Ekiti, and Oyo states, demonstrating the solidarity of the Southwest Governors Forum in honoring the memory of Governor Akeredolu.
