The Lagos State Government has revealed plans for a two-night traffic diversion, scheduled from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 am, at the Alaka inward Stadium Flyover Bridge and Ojuelegba Flyover Bridge by the Fire Station. This temporary closure, starting from Friday, 29th to Saturday, 30th December 2023, is intended for the installation of truck barriers.

According to a statement issued by Oluwaseun Osiyemi, motorists traveling from Eko Bridge/Constain/Iponri heading towards Ojuelegba/Alhaji Masha Road are advised to utilize the service lane from Alaka via the National Stadium gate to connect Barracks or Alhaji Masha Road for their onward journeys.

Similarly, motorists coming from Eko Bridge via Costain and those from Apapa Road traveling through Iponri are urged to take the Iponri Estate road to link Bode Thomas via Adeniran Ogunsanya to Shitta Roundabout to reach their destinations.

Osiyemi emphasized that the closure is a strategic traffic management measure to prevent accidents and loss of lives. He reassured motorists of the government’s commitment to their safety, urging them to exercise patience and comply with the diversion for the successful completion of the bridge safety installations.

In related news, the Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to improve traffic management and safety across the city, as evidenced by recent initiatives such as the removal of illegal gated streets in Lekki and joint enforcement operations by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC).
