Kano State Governor Signs N437 Billion 2024 Budget, Promises Prudent Management

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially signed the 2024 appropriation bill into law, totaling N437 billion. The budget, which was recently passed by the state House of Assembly, allocates 64% to capital expenditure and 36% to recurrent expenses. Governor Yusuf has assured the public that his administration will uphold global standards of public financial management in handling the state’s funds.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor emphasized the significance of the budget, which is themed “Budget of Restoration and Transformation.” He expressed confidence that the allocation of a majority of the budget to capital projects would positively impact the lives of the citizens of Kano State.

During a modest ceremony at the Government House, Governor Yusuf highlighted the importance of the budget signing, stating that it marks a pivotal moment that will shape the future of the state. He stressed his commitment to ensuring that the funds are utilized judiciously for the benefit of the people of Kano State and beyond.

Governor Yusuf also thanked the Kano State House of Assembly for their role in ratifying the budget, acknowledging the efforts of the Speaker in particular for his dedication to making the budget a reality.

The total budget estimate, now ratified, stands at N437,338,312,787.83, with capital projects receiving N379,835,94,351 and recurrent expenditure allocated N456,503,218,483.73.
