The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has steadfastly pledged that the unintended loss of civilian lives in a recent Nigerian Army airstrike in the Agabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State will not impede the nation’s fight against insurgency and terrorism.

Matawalle made this commitment during his visit to the victims of the airstrike, leading a high-level delegation that included the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Kana.

The minister, denouncing the tragic incident, asserted that despite the unfortunate occurrence, the battle against insurgency and terrorism will persist.

He affirmed, “We are not going to relent in our fight against terrorism because these criminals must be defeated. We are going to continue fighting the criminals till we succeed against banditry and other criminalities in this country.”

Matawalle, who also visited the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna where the injured victims were undergoing treatment, clarified that the visit was carried out on the instructions of President Bola Tinubu.

He assured the Kaduna State Government of the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to assisting the families of the victims.

Additionally, he revealed plans to establish an inquiry panel to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, aiming to prevent its recurrence in the future.

In response, Governor Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Governor Dr Hadiza Balarabe, extended heartfelt condolences to the affected families.

The governor pledged ongoing support to the relatives of the victims, underscoring the collective commitment to address the aftermath of the unfortunate airstrike.
