Seun Kuti Charges Nigerian Youths To Continue To Organise Themselves| GOVERNMEND
The music star and the son of a legend, Fela Kuti charged the Nigerian to continue to organise themselves, form different non-violent groups to hold the government accountable and address oppression from the elite clique.
While speaking with GOVERNMEND NG. during a virtual symposium, he however agreed that Nigerian youths are becoming more conscious and focused on repositioning leadership, unlike the high degree of apathy they were fond of showing in the past. “Let us keep organising ourselves, people who steal from us and ensure we make no progress don’t joke with meetings and all of that because they understand the power of organising. Why EndSars didn’t achieve so much was because of the organisation that was missing in the line of process.”
He condemned Sowore’s view of more action and less meeting. Sowore who was also on with GOVERNMEND during the virtual symposium stressed the need to act more, he is more interested in Nigerian youths fighting for important matters. Seun did not rule out action to be very important, but he maintained that the Nigerian youths have not organised themselves enough, and should strive to do better like their counterparts in other African countries.
