Nigerian Students, NANS Demands Immediate Sacking Of NNPCL, NMDPRA Bosses Over Conspiracy, Economic Sabotage
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for the immediate dismissal and prosecution of Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and Engineer Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). This demand follows allegations of conspiracy and economic sabotage related to the ongoing fuel scarcity and economic hardships under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.NANS made the demand after an emergency meeting to address the severe impact of current economic policies, which they believe are worsening the plight of Nigerian students and citizens. According to NANS National Vice President, Comrade Muhammed Y. Sabo, the group’s frustration stems from the belief that Kyari and Ahmed are acting in collusion with Bretton Woods institutions like the IMF and World Bank, whose policies are seen as detrimental to Nigerian interests. The student body accused Kyari and Ahmed of deliberately undermining the Dangote Refinery, a significant local investment, to favor international economic interests. NANS also criticized the administration for its perceived draconian policies and called on President Tinubu to reverse these measures to regain public trust.NANS has issued a one-week ultimatum for the government to address these issues. If their demands are not met, they plan to organize large-scale protests in collaboration with other civil society organizations to challenge what they see as economic exploitation and mismanagement.
