Trial Of Chidinma Ojukwu, Alleged Killer Of Super TV CEO, Ataga, Resumes October 15
The trial of Chidinma Ojukwu, accused of murdering Usifo Ataga, CEO of Super TV, is set to resume on October 15, 2024, at the Lagos High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square. Ojukwu, a 300-level Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos, faces charges alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and Adedapo Quadri. They were arraigned on October 12, 2021, with Ojukwu and Quadri facing charges of conspiracy, murder, and stabbing, while Egbuchu is charged with stealing Ataga’s iPhone 7.In April, Dr. Richard Somiari, a forensic expert from the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, testified that DNA on Ojukwu’s red dress matched Ataga’s, but did not match Ojukwu or the other suspects. Somiari explained that he conducted over 500 forensic tests and received various items for testing, including the stained dress, a green T-shirt, and DNA samples from Ojukwu.During the trial, the court reviewed evidence, including a video of the crime scene. Defense counsel questioned whether all relevant blood samples had been tested, but Somiari confirmed that some samples were not submitted for analysis. The trial continues with further hearings scheduled to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement in Ataga’s death.
