APC challenges Yusuf to account for N6billion Ramadan feeding — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised eyebrows over the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-led government’s expenditure of N6 billion on this year’s Ramadan feeding programme. During the launch of palliative distribution to APC leaders and supporters in Dawakin Kudu, Kano APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas called on the state government to provide evidence of how the funds were utilised in the feeding programme, which he described as dubious.

Abbas challenged the state government to substantiate their claim of spending the said amount on the feeding programme, pointing out that contributions from APC members funded the grains distributed to supporters as the state government’s support was absent.

Among the notable contributors to the APC-led initiative were Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, two state ministers, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and Abbas himself. This concerted effort aimed to provide relief during the economic challenges exacerbated by the ongoing Ramadan fast.

Representing Ganduje, his aide Malam Muhammad Garba highlighted the importance of supporting party members and leaders during Ramadan, especially given their privileged positions. He attributed the idea of the palliatives to the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who coordinated the distribution.

The APC’s challenge to the NNPP-led government’s Ramadan spending underscores a growing scrutiny of public expenditure and a call for transparency and accountability. The demand for evidence of the N6 billion expenditure reflects a broader concern over the management of public funds and the need for clarity in government spending, particularly in times of economic hardship.
