Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has attributed the current economic challenges facing Nigerians to the previous administration led by Muhammadu Buhari. Governor Mutfwang claimed that under Buhari’s tenure, approximately N30 trillion was printed and distributed.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of 22 Special Advisers and heads of government agencies in Jos, Governor Mutfwang expressed his belief in prioritizing governance over politics after elections. He highlighted the economic difficulties inherited by the current administration led by President Tinubu, stating that the country’s economy was in a worse state than in 1999.

Mutfwang emphasized the need for transparency, stating that the government inherited an economy where money was printed excessively and crude oil was sold in advance, leading to the devaluation of the naira. He warned of the potential for food riots, noting the importance of food security measures.

To address these challenges, Governor Mutfwang announced plans to establish a special agro-processing zone in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area in collaboration with the African Development Bank, with an investment of $300 million. He urged the new appointees to be prepared for the task ahead and to work towards reversing the current economic situation for the benefit of the people.
