APC Group in Ondo State Accuses Governor of Rewarding Anti-Party Members with Appointments

The Akoko Progressive Movement (APM), a faction within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has raised allegations against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, accusing him of appointing individuals who worked against the party during the 2023 primary elections.

In a statement signed by the group’s Director of Media, Seye Johnson, the APM claimed that two individuals recently appointed to cabinet positions by the governor did not support President Bola Tinubu’s ambitions during the 2023 polls. This move, according to the group, has caused apprehension among party members in the state, as they feel sidelined despite their contributions to the APC at both state and national levels.

The APM particularly highlighted an appointee who allegedly campaigned against the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during the Akoko North-West/Akoko North-East House of Representatives election in 2023. The group described the appointments as unacceptable and indicative of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s alleged intention to weaken the APC in Ondo State.

The group called on the national leaders of the APC to intervene and address the situation, expressing concerns that if left unchecked, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s actions could lead to political turmoil within the party in the state.
