President Bola Tinubu has criticized labour unions in Nigeria, urging them to maintain peace and avoid frequent strikes. Speaking at the unveiling of the first phase of the Lagos Red Line Rail project in Ikeja, Tinubu expressed disapproval of the unions’ actions, stating that engaging in four strikes within nine months of an administration was unacceptable.

Tinubu emphasized that while individuals and groups have the right to freedom and expression, disrupting the peace with numerous strikes is not the solution. He suggested that if the unions wish to participate in the electoral process, they should wait until 2027.

The president commended the Lagos Area Metropolitan Transport Authority (LAMATA) and the Lagos State Government for the completion of the massive rail project, which stretches 27 km from Agbado in Ogun State to the National Theatre in Iganmu, Ikeja. He praised the leaders for believing in the project and contributing to its success.

Regarding the ongoing fight against corruption and smugglers, Tinubu affirmed his commitment to combatting these issues, stating that the government will save money for the people and future generations. He emphasized the importance of perseverance, consistency, and staying focused on achieving true change and progress in the country.

Tinubu’s remarks at the event highlight the government’s determination to eradicate corruption and improve the lives of Nigerians. The completion of the Lagos Red Line Rail project is seen as a significant step towards achieving better transportation infrastructure and economic growth in the region.
