The Kano State government has officially inaugurated the 2024 Ramadan Feeding Committee, tasked with overseeing the 2024 Ramadan Feeding Programme (RFP). The RFP, as stated by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Press Secretary to the State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, aims to promote unity and provide support during the fasting period observed by Muslims.

During the inauguration of the Committee in his office, Comrade Gwarzo stressed that the programme was inclusive, intended to benefit all residents of the state regardless of their political affiliations. He urged the committee to devise a strategic plan for food distribution across designated areas within the state, emphasizing the importance of completing their assignment within a five-day period.

One of the key directives given to the committee is to identify suitable distribution points within the state’s 8 metropolitan local governments and 36 local government areas. Additionally, the committee is tasked with suggesting breakfast menus for the Muslim community during Ramadan and identifying deserving individuals or groups for government goodwill gestures during the holy month.

Expressing appreciation to the people of Kano for their ongoing support, Comrade Gwarzo reiterated the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to the welfare of its citizens.

The Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Ahmad Tijjani Auwal, representing the committee, thanked the state government for entrusting them with the important task of managing the Ramadan feeding programme. He assured that the committee would diligently execute its responsibilities.

Auwal also appealed to philanthropists in the state to contribute to the programme, ensuring its success and widespread benefits during Ramadan.

Members of the committee include Aisha Lawan Saji (Commissioner of Women Affairs), Amina Abdullahi (Commissioner of Special Duties), Umar Haruna Doguwa (Commissioner of Education), Baba Halilu Dantiye (Commissioner of Information), among others.
