Lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have called on former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, to intervene and rein in Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over his recent actions since assuming office after Rotimi Akeredolu’s passing on December 27, 2023.

The lawmakers, including Adesida Abiodun, Timehin Adelegbe, Festus Ayodele, Ojogo Kimikanboh, Odimayo John, and Adegboyega Adefarati, expressed concern over Aiyedatiwa’s decisions, alleging they showed little regard for Akeredolu’s legacy.

Adesida, speaking on behalf of the group, highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s actions, including aligning with political adversaries of Akeredolu and appointing a Deputy Governor who had a history of opposition to the late Governor.

The lawmakers also criticized Aiyedatiwa for creating discord within the party, marginalizing loyal party members, and aligning with individuals who opposed Akeredolu during his tenure.

They raised concerns over Aiyedatiwa’s decision to dissolve the Ondo State Executive Council, calling it ill-conceived and rushed. They urged Tinubu to intervene to prevent further internal conflicts that could weaken the APC’s influence in the state.

In conclusion, the lawmakers expressed hope that Tinubu’s intervention would bring about unity and development in Ondo State, ensuring peace and prosperity for all residents.

The request for intervention from Tinubu comes amidst growing tension within the Ondo APC, as Aiyedatiwa’s actions continue to cause rifts within the party. The outcome of Tinubu’s intervention remains to be seen, as stakeholders watch closely for any developments in the state’s political landscape.
