The kidnappers of five pupils and four staff members of the Apostolic Faith Church Primary and Secondary School in Emure, Ekiti State, have reportedly reduced their ransom demand from N100 million to N15 million.

The incident occurred when the school bus carrying the pupils, teachers, and driver was ambushed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers along the Eporo-Ekiti road, a boundary between Ondo and Ekiti States, around 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Initially, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N100 million for the release of their captives. However, a relative of one of the abductees, who preferred not to be named, revealed that the kidnappers reduced the ransom after appeals. The kidnappers threatened to kill the victims if the ransom was not paid promptly.

The concerned relative stressed the urgency of raising the money to secure the release of the children and teachers, appealing to Nigerians, the state government, and the Federal Government for assistance in rescuing them from captivity.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Abutu, stated that he was unaware of the ransom requested by the kidnappers.
