A joint security team comprising the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping squad and Nigerian Army troops successfully rescued several kidnapped individuals abducted from the Zuma 1 area of Bwari Area Council on January 2. The victims were rescued around Kajuru forest in Kaduna state at approximately 11:30 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

The abduction occurred when suspected bandits attacked Zuma community in Bwari Area Council, injuring two policemen and kidnapping approximately ten individuals, including Mansoor Kadriyar and his six daughters. During the attack, Alhaji (Abdulfatai Kadriyar), who was later revealed to be Mansoor Kadriyar’s brother, mobilized policemen to intervene but was shot by the bandits in the process.

Two policemen sustained injuries during the exchange of gunfire before the bandits escaped with the victims. Subsequently, the bandits demanded a ransom of N60 million and tragically killed the eldest daughter, Nabeeha, due to delays in payment. The ransom demand was later increased to N100 million.

Additionally, three individuals were kidnapped in Barangoni area, also in Bwari Area Council, after inflicting gunshot wounds on a vigilante. The FCT Police Command expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, for deploying the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad, which has strengthened the existing security architecture in the FCT.

CP Haruna Garba reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining robust security deployment in the area and urged the public to report suspicious activities promptly using the provided emergency contact numbers.
