No Safe Haven for Corrupt Individuals in Nigeria – EFCC Chairman

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has declared a firm stance against corruption, stating that there will be no safe haven for corrupt individuals in Nigeria. He made this assertion during a visit by Musa Aliyu, the Chair of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

Olukoyede emphasized the political will of President Bola Tinubu in combating economic and financial crimes, affirming that no one would be immune to investigations. He credited President Tinubu for providing the necessary leadership and environment for anti-corruption agencies to operate effectively. Olukoyede stressed that under the current administration, there would be no leniency for those involved in corrupt practices, regardless of their status.

The EFCC Chairman highlighted the significance of collaboration between the EFCC and ICPC, signaling a united front in their efforts to combat corruption. He referenced the existing memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two agencies, emphasizing its importance as a framework for cooperation. Olukoyede acknowledged the scale of corruption cases in Nigeria and the challenges faced by anti-corruption agencies due to limited resources and manpower.

He emphasized the need for synergy between the EFCC and ICPC to effectively address the pervasive issue of corruption in the country. Musa Aliyu, from the ICPC, echoed Olukoyede’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation between the two agencies. He emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to tackle corruption effectively and move the country forward.
