Attorney General of Nigeria Expresses Support for EFCC’s Anti-Corruption Efforts

Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has voiced his backing for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in its campaign against economic and financial crimes and corruption. He emphasized the Commission’s pivotal role in President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to promote accountability in governance.

Speaking at the commissioning of the new office complex of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC in Kwara State, Chief Fagbemi stressed President Tinubu’s determination to rid Nigeria of corruption, highlighting the crucial role of the EFCC in achieving this goal.

Chief Fagbemi also emphasized the government’s commitment to recovering and repatriating stolen wealth, indicating plans for legal reforms to enhance the EFCC’s capacity for investigations and asset recovery.

In his address, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, urged officers of the Commission to intensify efforts in combating economic and financial crimes to create a conducive business environment and attract foreign direct investment.

The commissioning of the new office complex was described by Mr. Olukoyede as a significant milestone in the EFCC’s operations, reflecting the commitment to providing a secure environment for its activities.

Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, commended the EFCC’s efforts in fighting corruption and emphasized the importance of supporting the national campaign against corruption at all levels.

The newly commissioned office complex is equipped with facilities to accommodate staff and detainees, including purpose-built interrogation rooms and a canteen.

The event was attended by dignitaries from various sectors, including government officials, legislators, security agencies, and industry leaders, highlighting the broad support for the EFCC’s anti-corruption efforts.
