Enemi Alabo George, a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly who was among the 27 legislators that defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), has affirmed that they have no intention of returning to the PDP. He clarified that Governor Siminalayi Fubara did sign the eight-point resolution at the Presidential Villa on Monday, contrary to some speculations.

Speaking in an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday night, George, who chairs the House Committee on Information, reiterated that there was a division within the PDP, and their decision to join the APC was final. When asked if the group would reconsider returning to the PDP following the peace deal brokered between the parties, George stated firmly that they had crossed the Rubicon and had no plans to go back. He emphasized their support for President Buhari’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and their commitment to working with him to fulfill the expectations of Nigerians.

Addressing the controversy surrounding the eight-point resolution presided over by President Bola Tinubu, George clarified that Governor Fubara did sign the document. He described the peace meeting as well-attended, with a significant number of dignitaries present, including members of the National Assembly, the governor, commissioners, the deputy governor, former governors, traditional rulers, and other influential figures in the state.

George detailed the process of the peace meeting, explaining that each item in the resolution was deliberated upon, with both parties given the opportunity to agree or disagree. He confirmed that after thorough deliberations, the parties were asked to sign the document, and Governor Fubara, along with other key figures, affirmed their commitment to the agreement.
