The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has taken a decisive step by freezing the accounts of all 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) within the state. This move was communicated to the local councils through an official letter where Aiyedatiwa outlined stringent directives for financial operations.

The missive stated, “Distinguished HOLGAs, Your Excellency, the Acting Governor of Ondo State, has directed that all spending and expenditure from local government accounts should be suspended. This entails no signing of cheques, no change of signatories, and no withdrawal of any sort until further directive. Please adhere strictly to instructions and be guided accordingly.”

This development comes in the wake of Aiyedatiwa assuming the role of the acting governor earlier in the week. The transition occurred following a letter addressed to the House of Assembly by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, wherein he indicated his need to travel to Germany for medical reasons.
