Nigeria’s Defence Ministry Explores Partnership with U.S. Military Firm for Advanced Weapons Production

The Ministry of Defence in Nigeria is actively considering collaboration opportunities with NEANY, a prominent U.S. military firm, to establish sophisticated weapons production lines at the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, recently concluded a two-day visit to NEANY to explore potential areas of collaboration and assess the feasibility of setting up advanced military equipment assembly lines.

The visit, aimed at fostering collaboration between the Nigerian and U.S. military industries, focuses on enhancing the production capabilities of DICON to address the rising insecurity challenges in Nigeria. The goal is to establish assembly lines for the production of cutting-edge military equipment, promoting innovation and technology adoption to bolster the efficiency of the Nigerian military.

NEANY, renowned for its expertise in military equipment manufacturing, offers an opportunity for knowledge exchange and technological advancement. DICON, as a government-owned entity in Nigeria, specializes in the production of military equipment and hardware.

During the visit, Minister Matawalle expressed Nigeria’s determination to elevate the capabilities of its armed forces to effectively combat emerging security threats. He highlighted the importance of integrating advanced military technologies to modernize the armed forces, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for a robust and technologically advanced defence system.

The comprehensive tour of NEANY’s facilities provided the minister with insights into cutting-edge military and intelligence hardware capabilities. Key facilities visited during the tour included the Rapid Deployment Mobile RADAR system, Unmanned Water Vehicle, Drone Ground Control Station, and Compact Biometric Search-scan System, showcasing NEANY’s technological prowess.
