Vice-President Kashim Shettima has called upon the newly inaugurated members of the National Council on Privatisation (NCP) to actively contribute to the realization of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The inauguration took place on Friday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Shettima, who chairs the NCP, highlighted the importance of fostering innovative reforms through disruptive thinking.

During the ceremony, Shettima emphasised that impactful reforms typically begin with disruptive thinkers, a trait he attributed to President Tinubu.

Shettima commended the President’s selection of the council’s members, viewing it as an endorsement of their capacity to bring fresh ideas to the table and achieve meaningful results.

Shettima stressed that the NCP’s mission, coupled with its diverse talents and extensive experience among its members, is pivotal for economic sector reform, privatisation, commercialisation, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programs over the next four years.

He underscored the significance of the council’s role in steering the nation towards economic rejuvenation and liberalization.

Addressing the members, Shettima conveyed that their appointment signifies more than mere participation; it symbolizes a commitment to Nigeria’s growth, empowerment, and creating opportunities.

He urged the council to play an active role in fulfilling the promises outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that the inauguration was an invitation to lead the charge for accelerated economic growth.

In his address, Shettima outlined the NCP’s objectives, which include formulating policies on privatisation and commercialisation, approving guidelines for the valuation of public enterprises, and deciding on appropriate remedies to address the socio-economic effects of the privatisation and commercialisation program.

The council, chaired by Shettima, includes prominent figures such as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), among others.
