The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly distanced itself from any discussions regarding a coalition or merger with fellow opposition parties, emphasizing its status as Nigeria’s most organized and democratic political entity.

Speaking exclusively to Vanguard, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, debunked rumors of the party engaging in talks with other political entities.

He asserted, “PDP is unparalleled in its organization and democratic ethos within Nigeria. Many other parties trace their roots back to PDP. We categorically deny any involvement in negotiations for a coalition or merger with any political entity.”

Ologunagba highlighted PDP’s commitment to due process, emphasizing that any potential discussions regarding a coalition would necessitate the explicit approval of the National Executive Committee (NEC), a key decision-making body within the party.

He added, “Our party operates with transparency and adheres strictly to established guidelines and procedures. While we recognize the challenges faced in the 2019 and 2023 elections, we are steadfast in rebuilding and fortifying our party to safeguard our democracy.”

He further elaborated on the party’s structural reach across the nation, stating, “Every community in Nigeria boasts a functional PDP office, underscoring our commitment to inclusivity and grassroots engagement.”

Amidst speculation and political maneuvering, PDP remains resolute in its position, steering clear of any premature discussions that could impact the party’s future trajectory.

Ologunagba’s remarks underscore the party’s dedication to a thorough and meticulous decision-making process, ensuring that any potential collaboration aligns seamlessly with PDP’s core principles.
