NiMet Predicts Dust Haze and Sunshine Across Nigeria, Urges Caution

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast indicating the prevalence of dust haze and sunshine nationwide from Sunday to Tuesday.

According to NiMet’s Weather Outlook released in Abuja, the northern region is expected to experience dust haze throughout the forecast period.

Sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere are anticipated over the North Central region during the same period.

NiMet forecasts cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine in the morning over the inland states of the South and the coastal belt.

However, in the afternoon and evening, localized thunderstorms are expected over parts of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states.

For Monday, NiMet predicts sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere over the North and North Central regions throughout the forecast period.

Cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected in the morning over the inland states of the South and coastal cities. Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are anticipated over Imo, Abia, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States.

On Tuesday, NiMet forecasts sunny and hazy skies over the North and North Central regions throughout the forecast period.

Cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected in the morning over inland states of the South and the coast.

Thunderstorms are anticipated later in the day over most parts of the southern region.

NiMet issued a cautionary note, stating, “Dust particles are in suspension; the public should take necessary precautions. People with Asthma and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather situations.”
