In a troubling incident, three members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were apprehended by the Nigeria Police for allegedly shooting two students from Senior Secondary School, Life Camp, in the Jabi and Gwarinpa areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The victims, currently undergoing treatment at Gwarinpa Hospital, were reportedly shot during an incident that unfolded around 11.20 am on Wednesday.

The NSCDC operatives, assigned to provide security during an ongoing examination at the school, allegedly opened fire, prompting a wave of protest from enraged high school students who vandalised three NSCDC patrol vehicles in response to the attack on their peers.

Confirming the incident, FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, assured that law and order had been restored in the affected area.

She stated, “The incident happened, but our operatives intervened in time to restore law and order, and the environment is now peaceful. Two injured students are currently receiving treatment, and the CP, Haruna Garba has ordered the commencement of an investigation into the incident.”

On the other hand, the FCT Command of the NSCDC has yet to provide a statement regarding the incident. Comfort Okomanyi, the spokesperson for the FCT NSCDC, cited being indisposed and promised to reach out to the command for an update on the matter.
