Major Shake-Up at NNPC: President Tinubu Appoints Fresh Leadership Team

President Bola Tinubu has ushered in a new era for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) by approving the appointment of a revamped Board and Management team, effective December 1.

This strategic move aligns with Section 59 (2) of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021.

Chief Pius Akinyelure takes the helm as the Non-Executive Board Chairman, with Mele Kolo Kyari assuming the role of Group Chief Executive Officer, and Umar Isa Ajiya appointed as the Chief Financial Officer.

The President has carefully selected individuals with diverse expertise to steer the NNPC into a dynamic future.

Other notable appointees include Ledum Mitee, Musa Tumsa, Ghali Muhammad, Prof. Mustapha Aliyu, David Ogbodo, and Eunice Thomas, who will serve as Non-Executive Directors.

President Tinubu emphasizes the importance of performance-driven and results-oriented leadership, urging the newly appointed team to align with the objectives of his Renewed Hope administration.

In addition to the NNPC leadership overhaul, President Tinubu has sanctioned the appointment of two Permanent Secretaries – Okokon Ekanem Udo for the Federal Ministry of Finance and Amb. Gabriel Aduda for the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

This strategic move aims to strengthen the collaborative efforts between key ministries.

President Tinubu’s vision for the NNPC underlines a commitment to leveraging the nation’s oil and gas resources while concurrently paving the way for the exploration of cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.

The President’s directive highlights a forward-looking approach to energy policy implementation, ensuring the optimal monetization of existing resources and a seamless transition to emerging energy solutions.
