Adamawa Governor Introduces N10,000 Monthly Allowance for Corps Members to Cushion the Effect of Fuel Subsidy Removal
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has made a significant announcement, declaring a monthly allowance of N10,000 for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state.
The move is aimed at mitigating the impact of the recent removal of fuel subsidies.
Governor Fintiri disclosed this initiative during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream II youth corps members at the Damare Permanent Orientation camp in Girei Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Addressing the corps members, the governor extended congratulations and emphasized the importance of their security.
He urged them to stay vigilant and follow the personal security tips provided during their security lectures.
Additionally, he encouraged them to use the distress call line in the Orientation Guide Booklets in case of emergency situations.
“The N10,000 allowance is to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal,” Fintiri stated, demonstrating a commitment to supporting the young individuals navigating the challenges of their service year.
Governor Fintiri also emphasized the changing landscape of employment, advising the corps members to pay attention to the skills acquisition training offered in the camp.
He highlighted the scarcity of traditional white-collar jobs and pointed out the abundant opportunities available in Adamawa, fostering a favourable and hospitable business environment for all, regardless of background.
In response, Mr Jingi Denis, the NYSC Coordinator in Adamawa, expressed gratitude to the state government for consistently supporting NYSC members and staff.
He urged the youth corps members to adhere to NYSC by-laws and maintain good conduct.
The orientation course, according to Denis, holds immense significance as the first cardinal programme of the service year.
