Lagos State Police have released musician and label owner Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley) and Samson Balogun (Sam Larry) after meeting their bail conditions in connection to the mysterious death of rapper Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad) in October.

The duo, along with two others, had been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court on October 6 and were remanded in police custody.

They were granted bail on November 6 in the sum of N20 million with three responsible sureties. The court ruled that they must submit their passports and report weekly to the State’s Criminal Investigation Department.

Mohbad died in mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023, after attending a concert in Ikorodu where he sustained injuries in a fracas.

The police had questioned several individuals, including Mohbad’s family members, friends, wife, manager, and childhood friend Ibrahim Owodunni (Primeboy).

The police commissioner named an auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, as the prime suspect, alleging that she injected Mohbad three times at his home, leading to his death.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry were detained over their alleged roles in the death and were accused of bullying the rapper, who had left Naira Marley’s Marlian Records in 2022.

The police’s preliminary findings implicated Ogedengbe in the injection that resulted in Mohbad’s death.
