The Nigerian Army has successfully eliminated a notorious bandit known as Mai-Nasara, who had been causing terror in the northwestern region of the country.

This operation took place in the Sangeko forest in Kebbi State. Additionally, five suspected members of Mai-Nasara’s gang were arrested during the operation.

The spokesperson for Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris, Ahmed Idris, confirmed the operation.

Abdulrahman Usman, the director of Security at the Cabinet Office in Birnin Kebbi, praised the efforts of the security personnel in combating crime and criminal activities, especially in the southern part of Kebbi.

He called on the public to provide support and cooperation to the security agencies and emphasised that security is everyone’s responsibility.

Kebbi State, like several other states in the northwest region of Nigeria, has been affected by banditry and terrorism, leading to attacks on communities and the abduction of residents for ransom.

While the killing of Mai-Nasara is a significant achievement, it’s important to note that there are multiple independent terror groups operating in the region, and eliminating one leader does not necessarily end the overall threat of criminality.
