President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to reducing the country’s soaring inflation rate and addressing its economic challenges.

Speaking at the APC Presidential Campaign Council to 2024 Ramadan Iftar at the State House on Wednesday, Tinubu emphasized his determination to tackle inflation, despite acknowledging that there is no quick fix.

Since Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidy and unification of the exchange rate upon assuming office in May 2023, Nigeria has experienced a steady increase in inflation, leading to economic hardships for its citizens.

The latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) indicates that Nigeria’s inflation rose to 31.70 percent in February 2024, up from 29.90 percent in the previous month.

However, President Tinubu remains optimistic about his government’s ability to reverse this trend. He emphasized the need for hard work and commitment, stating, “I campaigned on hope, I have to rest on that hope, and push for that hope for the joy of every one of us. The economy is looking good, don’t worry about that.”

He also highlighted efforts to improve revenue generation and regain Nigeria’s sovereignty and respect on the world stage. “Whatever is happening to us, we have to solve it ourselves. It is your effort, your thinking, your resourcefulness, your investment, your dedication, and hard work that can only get us there,” he added.
