The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the 2024 Hajj fare for intending pilgrims from the Southern departure centre, fixing it at N4.8 million. Jalal Arabi, the chairman of NAHCON, disclosed this in a statement released by Fatima Sanda-Usara, the commission’s spokesperson, in Abuja on Saturday.

Arabi highlighted that the commission had secured significant discounts from service providers in Saudi Arabia to reduce the cost of the pilgrimage for intending pilgrims. He explained that without the commission’s intervention, the cost of the 2024 Hajj would have risen to N6 million due to the volatile currency situation in Nigeria. However, through the commission’s efforts in lowering the cost of services, the fare has been kept at N4.8 million for pilgrims from the Southern centre.

He further stated that pilgrims from the Northern centre will pay N4,699,000, while those from Yola and Maiduguri centre will pay N4,679,000 for the 2024 Hajj.

Arabi emphasized the commission’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and successful Hajj for all intending pilgrims despite the challenges posed by foreign exchange. He urged intending pilgrims to settle their Hajj fare by Monday, Feb. 12, to enable the commission to transfer the funds before the deadline.
