Mr Yusuf Abdullahi, a legal practitioner based in Ilorin, Kwara State, has advised Nigerians to support locally made goods and products. In an interview in Ilorin on Saturday, Abdullahi highlighted the need for Nigerians to appreciate and patronize goods manufactured within the country.

Abdullahi expressed concern over the tendency of Nigerians to prefer foreign-made goods over locally produced ones, often at higher prices for lower quality. He emphasized the importance of changing this mindset, urging Nigerians to value and invest in products made in Nigeria to boost the country’s economy.

According to Abdullahi, there is a common misconception among Nigerians that locally made goods are of inferior quality compared to foreign products. He urged consumers to reevaluate this perception and recognize the quality and value of Nigerian-made goods.

In addition to calling for a shift in consumer mindset, Abdullahi called on the government to play a more active role in monitoring the quality of goods produced in the country. He stressed the need for agencies such as the Standard Organisation of Nigeria and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to maintain strict oversight to ensure that only high-quality products are available in the market.

Abdullahi’s advice comes at a time when there is increasing awareness of the importance of supporting local industries and businesses for economic growth and sustainability. By encouraging Nigerians to prioritize locally made goods, Abdullahi hopes to contribute to the development of the country’s economy and promote a culture of quality and excellence in Nigerian products.
