NCC Suspends Plan to Disconnect Glo Subscribers from MTN Lines for 21 Days

0

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced a 21-day suspension of its plan to restrict Glo subscribers from calling MTN lines. This decision comes after the NCC had earlier approved the partial disconnection of Globacom’s network from MTN’s due to unpaid interconnect charges.

In a statement by the Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Mouka, the NCC stated that both parties have reached an agreement to resolve their outstanding issues. Consequently, the NCC has decided to halt the phased disconnection for 21 days starting from January 17, 2024, using its regulatory powers.

The statement emphasized the commission’s expectation for MTN and Glo to resolve all outstanding matters within the specified period. However, it reiterated that settling interconnect debts is a crucial requirement for all telecom operators to comply with regulatory obligations.
