The Labour Party in Edo State has dismissed a document circulating online titled “Guidelines and Timetable for Edo State Governorship Primaries,” branding it as fake. The document, purportedly signed by Dr. Abayomi Arabambi, claims to outline the party’s internal election process for selecting its 2024 gubernatorial candidate.

In a press release issued on Friday, Comrade Sam Uroupa, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo Labour Party, condemned the forgery. He clarified that neither the party’s national secretariat nor any authorized official has released any official guidelines or timetable for the forthcoming primaries.

Uroupa emphasized that Dr. Abayomi Arabambi is not affiliated with the Labour Party and holds no official position within the party, thus lacking the authority to make statements on its behalf, particularly concerning internal party affairs.

The Labour Party spokesperson stressed that the party maintains established communication channels with its national secretariat. He assured party members and the public that any genuine information regarding the primaries would be communicated exclusively through these official channels.

“We urge all governorship aspirants, party members, and the general public to disregard the purported document attributed to Dr. Arabambi,” Uroupa urged. He advised that the official guidelines and timetable for the Edo State governorship primaries would be disseminated once released by the Labour Party’s national secretariat.
