Nigerians in UAE Urge Government Intervention in Visa and Work Permit Ban

Nigerians residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are expressing their frustration over the ongoing diplomatic dispute between Nigeria and the UAE.

They are calling on the Nigerian government to urgently intervene and resolve the issue, particularly the ban on work permits and visas for Nigerians.

The delay in addressing this matter is causing hardships for many Nigerians in the UAE.

The ban on work permits and visas has left Nigerian residents in the UAE living in fear of losing their jobs and has prevented many legitimate residents from finding employment.

Even though President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited the UAE in an attempt to resolve the diplomatic row, little progress has been made, and the ban remains in place.

One of the main reasons behind this ban is the issue of trapped funds belonging to Emirates Airlines in Nigeria, with over $85 million held up out of a total of over $700 million owed to airlines by the Nigerian government.

The Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has promised to clear these funds, but the situation remains unresolved.

Nigerians in the UAE are appealing to the Nigerian government to address their concerns, as they face job losses and financial hardships due to the ban on work permits and visas.

They believe that the focus should be on freeing the trapped funds of Emirates Airlines rather than the actions of some Nigerian residents in the UAE, as they contend that the UAE’s security is strict and capable of addressing criminal activities.

The issue is causing distress among the Nigerian community in the UAE, with job losses becoming increasingly common.

They call on the Nigerian government, President Tinubu, and other relevant authorities to resolve the matter through diplomatic channels, as it is having a significant impact on their lives and livelihoods.

They believe that addressing the financial issue is a top priority and that a positive bilateral agreement with the UAE is needed to restore normalcy and allow Nigerians in the UAE to work and live without fear.

While the Nigerian government has assured its citizens that diplomatic efforts are underway to resolve the visa and work permit ban, those affected by the ban are growing increasingly frustrated with the prolonged delay.

They hope for a swift resolution to the matter so that they can regain their jobs and livelihoods in the UAE.
