Governor Yahaya Bello Labels Assassination Reports as Misguided and False
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, isn’t one to mince words, and he made that clear in response to claims of an assassination attempt.
The rumour mill had been buzzing with reports of a supposed attack on GYB while en route to an official engagement in Abuja.
The State’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, stated that the attack, carried out by individuals clad in military attire, led to gunfire towards the governor’s vehicle and others in the convoy. Fortunately, swift action by security personnel thwarted the assault.
In response, Governor Bello addressed these claims during a Facebook Live session on Sunday, dismissing any such attempt on his life. He urged caution, stating, “Misguided elements will take this out of context. You are not doing me any favour by putting fake news out there, saying Governor Yahaya Bello escaped assassination when there was nothing of that nature.”
Bello clarified that the incident was a brief altercation between military and police personnel from his convoy, which was resolved within five minutes.
