Agbede Residents Hope for Speedy Completion of 7.5km Road Project

The member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Babajimi Benson, on September 20, 2025, flagged off the construction of a 7.5km road linking Agbede to Ita Oluwo in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos.

According to Benson, the road project is a strategic initiative aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and boosting economic activities in the community. Apologizing for the decades of neglect, he said:
“This project is a significant development initiative aimed at improving infrastructure and connectivity in this area. I sincerely apologize for the long period of suffering and neglect since 1979. I acknowledge the hardships faced by residents and pledge to make amends through this infrastructure development.”
Reacting to the development, Mr Olawuyi Ajala, General Secretary of the Joint Community Development Association (CDA), explained that the road construction would be executed in three phases:
- Phase 1: Agbede Fanta to Agbede Olorogbo (3km, expected within four months)
- Phase 2: Olorogbo to Ajegunle
- Phase 3: Ajegunle to Ita Oluwo

Mr Saviour, a transport worker from Olunla, also appealed for speedy work.
- Similarly, Mrs Emeka, a resident and businesswoman, expressed relief at the commencement of the project but called for more manpower on-site. She noted that the current workforce appeared too small for the scale of work, leaving residents to trek long distances before accessing transport services.
- The project has raised hopes across Agbede and its environs, with residents eagerly awaiting its timely completion to ease mobility and support local economic growth.
