AAC Urges Oyo Governor Makinde to Free 12 Protesters Detained Over Land Disputes
The African Action Congress (AAC) party has called for the immediate release of 12 individuals detained by the Oyo State government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, for protesting against alleged land-grabbing activities in the state.
In a press statement, AAC Oyo Chairman Kayode Babayomi condemned the arrests, describing them as punitive and unjust. Babayomi stated that the detained citizens were exercising their right to oppose the unlawful confiscation of land under the current administration.
The statement read:
“The African Action Congress (AAC), Oyo State chapter, strongly condemns the wrongful arrest and detention of 12 Oyo residents who protested against the oppressive takeover of their properties by the Seyi Makinde-led PDP government. Their immediate release is non-negotiable.
“It is disgraceful to punish citizens for voicing their grievances. This act is akin to beating a child and then silencing them for crying. These individuals have committed no crime but merely stood up against the reckless land-grabbing activities of a government behaving in a dictatorial and criminal manner.”
The AAC criticized the governor’s actions, stating they undermine the socio-economic development of Oyo State.

“Governor Makinde has shown himself to be a despotic leader, steering the state towards dangerous terrain. The citizens are fully aware of these injustices and are prepared to resist the relentless seizure of public and private
