The youngest candidate in the Osun 2022 governorship election and the candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Bayonle mentioned that he has no regret over the outcome of the election despite garnering a total vote of 1303 across the state. He described the election as a race favorable to candidates who could break banks not for candidates like himself who spent a lot of time studying the state, the need of the people and ready to replicate what’s obtainable in Massachusetts, United States, where he currently resides but had no plan to buy a single vote.

“I have no regret throwing my hat in the ring. Instead, I feel proud of every step I took before, during and after the election. My aspiration was birthed out of the desire to do more projects to help my people in Osun state live the kind of life, or at least something close to what I have spent about 10years experiencing in the United States. Nigerians generally are not treated well in their country by leaders at all levels of government, but Osun people don’t even get to enjoy anything near good life. They’ve been cheated for too long.”

When asked if he would re-contest 2026, he stated that; ” In four years I will be 39, four years is actually a lot of time, a lot of things would have happened, I may be looking at aspiring to become president, may be the governor-elect may deliver so well to deserve another four years, I don’t know. I think it is too early to figure out what my next political move would be, but I am committed to developing Osun state and I am not stopping that, my foundation, Dr. Ademola Bayonle Youth Foundation is still running to execute different projects to cushion the effects of malgovernace.”

He also mentioned that since after election, he has moved on with his foundation to draw a roadmap on mentoring the youths and providing a political education that can mitigate the impacts of vote-buying, which was a major factor in this year’s election.

The Boston University trained public health expert said he is happy that he was able to inspire the youths to challenge the status quo. “Before now, people could not imagine that a 35-year-old man would contest in a governorship election and not compromise. Of course, I was in the race with people old enough to have me as their last child. It’s difficult to belief. I understand why a lot of people even thought I worked/work for the outgoing governor, Gboyega Oyetola who I never had any meeting with. Governorship race looks challenging for someone of my age, but I am glad there’s now a precedence to reference.” Bayonle Ademola state.
